TIDE TO TIDE 2016
Much to our delight, Tide to Tide returned to Pembrey after a year out. Theres something about this event that really pulls myself and others in, maybe its the fact you get to ride a fast and fun lap multiple times or the chilled feel that comes with this event. Through the six hours of racing faces are always smiling, cheers can be heard through the forest and nearly every style of bike known can be seen charging through the sandy singletrack or down the hard packed beach of Pembrey Park.
As per usual Matt managed to pull the weather out of the bag and give us hours of sun and perfect temperatures for a 6 hour race. The sunset was showing signs of being rather special and as my excitement grew so did the speed of the incoming tide, which beat us to the sunset. It was prearranged that if the tide came to a certain point the course would change slightly to make sure we didn’t loose any participants to the sea.
The last of the sun managed to penetrate through the forest and cast a warm glow across any high point before the riders finally had to give in and switch to artificial light to finish the race. With beams of lights flickering through the woods for the final hour, faces started to look tired and comments of how great the day had been could be heard echoing around the park.
Once again, it was another great A Cycling event and another great day spent within Pembrey Park. A huge thanks to all that shouted thanks during their laps and to those that always buy images from me and help to keep me returning to the events.
