Images I took for Wye Lavender last year were used in the June 2015 edition of Welsh Border Life Magazine. It is a great article which gives an insight in to the proprietor Zoë and how she came about setting up the small Lavender farm on a hillside, 1000ft above sea level on the outskirts of Rhayader. Growing lavender isn’t normally associated with the UK, let alone in Wales, yet Zoë explains how certain hardy varieties coupled with the correct conditions can mean that growing it successfully in Wales is possible. Wye Lavender, which is based in a beautiful spot overlooking the town of Rhayader near the Elan Valley, is open during the summer months. Zoë offers many treats, such as lavender teas, scones, biscuits and fudge. Also on site this year will be a small farm shop with many lavender based products for sale. I myself, highly recommend popping by to soak up the aroma and stunning views. Oh, don’t forget to try the fudge
